Privacy Policy

Overview

HomeBe·at ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Home Assistant client for monitoring security cameras and smart detection alerts. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

Data the App Accesses

HomeBe·at connects to your own Home Assistant instance. All camera feeds, device data, and entity information are fetched directly from your server and are never sent to us. The app accesses:

  • Camera entities and their live streams (WebRTC, HLS, MJPEG)
  • Motion detection events and sensor data associated with cameras
  • Device and area registries for organizing your cameras

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us:

  • Authentication credentials — OAuth tokens and connection URLs are stored securely in the system Keychain.
  • App preferences — Display settings, stream quality preferences, and other configuration options are stored in the app's local storage.
  • Screenshots — Camera screenshots are saved only to a folder you choose on your device.

Crash Reporting

HomeBe·at uses Sentry for crash reporting and error tracking. When the app encounters an error, diagnostic information such as the error details, app version, and operating system version may be sent automatically. This data does not include your Home Assistant credentials or camera feeds.

Feedback and Support

When you voluntarily submit feedback through the app or this website, the following data is sent:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your message
  • Optionally, diagnostic logs and a snapshot of your Home Assistant configuration (only if you explicitly choose to include them)
  • Basic system information (app version, OS version, device model)

Microphone Access

The app may request microphone access solely for two-way audio features with your cameras. Microphone data is streamed directly to your Home Assistant instance and is never sent to us.

Local Network Access

HomeBe·at requires local network access to communicate with your Home Assistant server on your local network. This connection stays between your device and your server.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not track your activity or behavior within the app
  • We do not use any advertising or analytics frameworks
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties
  • We do not access your device's camera, location, contacts, or health data

In-App Purchases

HomeBe·at offers in-app purchases processed entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store any payment information. Purchase status is stored locally on your device.

Data Retention and Deletion

All locally stored data (credentials, preferences, screenshots) is removed when you uninstall the app. If you have submitted feedback, you can request deletion of that data by contacting us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

HomeBe·at is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
