Keyboard Shortcuts

HomeBe·at viewport windows on macOS support keyboard shortcuts for quick camera control. These work whenever a viewport window is focused.

Viewport Shortcuts

These shortcuts work in any viewport layout (1×1, 2×2, 3×3, etc.).

KeyAction
19Expand or collapse the camera at that grid position
EscapeCollapse the currently expanded camera
TToggle always-on-top (pin window above all others)
FToggle fullscreen mode
Ctrl+TabCycle to the next viewport window
Shift+Ctrl+TabCycle to the previous viewport window

Single Camera Shortcuts

These shortcuts are available when a viewport displays a single camera (1×1 layout or an expanded camera).

KeyAction
MToggle audio mute
LToggle the associated light
STake a screenshot
+ / =Zoom in (PTZ or digital)
-Zoom out (PTZ or digital)
0Reset zoom to 1×
← → ↑ ↓Pan camera (PTZ or digital)
Note: If your camera supports PTZ, the zoom and arrow keys control the physical camera. Otherwise, they control digital zoom and panning. PTZ always takes priority when available.

Global Shortcuts

Global shortcuts work from anywhere in macOS, even when HomeBe·at is not focused. You can assign custom key combinations to these actions per camera in the app's Camera Settings.

ActionDescription
Open ViewportOpens a 1×1 viewport window showing the assigned camera. If the viewport is already open, it brings it to the front.
Trigger AlertSimulates a motion detection alert for the assigned camera, triggering the configured alert behavior.
Tip: Global shortcuts are configured per camera. Open the app settings, select a camera, and assign key combinations in the Shortcuts section.
